Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB) is one of the leading research centres in Germany in the fields of renewable energy, material science and quantum information. At HZB's Berlin Joint Electron Paramagnetic Resonance Lab (BeJEL) we are searching for a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist to conduct research within the BMBF funded project Electron Paramagnetic Resonance on a Chip (EPRoC). EPRoC is a unique new spectroscopic tool with a huge potential in operando radical spectroscopy due to the fact that the EPR spectrometer is confined to a small silicon chip and can be applied using a permanent magnet. The main goal of the project is to develop a miniaturised EPR setup for operando investigation of growth processes of solar cell materials and the fundamental mechanisms of electrochemical and catalytic reactions. There are two PhD positions within the EPRoC project, which will be supervised by the candidate.

we are searching for a highly motivated PhD candidate within the DFG funded project Quantum many body interactions in a two dimensional solid state system. The goal is to create and use single spins in diamond (nitrogen vacancy centres, shortly NV) to control nanoscale two dimensional (2D) arrays of nuclear spins, with the final goal being the realisation of a solid state quantum simulator.
